The main aim was the retraining of an urban area of Borgo Nuovo, being aware of the social function that architecture can play in some contexts by improving the quality of the spaces devoted to socialization and integration . The project denied vehicle access in the closest area to the buildings in order to create a pedestrian area and three underground car parking floors using new ramps along the public street. The project area is a public green area that can be used by people who live in the condos, but also by those who live nearby being linked to the rest of green areas near via Zancle.
The retraining project of the whole complex provides for a new facades design that is integrated with previous structures by using significant solutions: introduction of flat concrete walls, metallic screenings, covering for stairs using colored panels and replacement of the external furnishings in the horizontal and vertical closings.
The underground car parkings and their ramps are designed in relation of the existent static scheme
The retraining intervention includes some proposals to improve the systems of the area for the sustainability aim. We reached that target using some passive and active solutions. The passive solutions as solar screening and the replacement let the manage and the reduction of thermal losses, the active solutions propose renewable energies to produce electric energy, sanitary hot water and for the heating system and also for the recollecting rain water.
